PLANT SALE UPDATE
Many thanks to everyone who supported the Manor Park School Annual Plant Sale Fundraiser!

The day was a success: we saw a lot of familiar faces from the school and local community, we had a great team of volunteers, the weather cooperated and the plants were happy. We exceeded our fundraising goal by topping last year’s amounts by $300, raising a grand total of $1800. These funds will help pay for field trip buses for our students.

What fabulous volunteers! We had some lovely students  and some very helpful parents that saw us through the long and mostly rain-free day.

See you next year!

MAY FAIR UPDATE

Another year, another successful May Fair! A special thanks to Theresa Wilson and Andrea Poole for their overall coordination of the big event for the past two years. And a heartfelt thank you to our many, many hardworking parents, staff and community volunteers. Without you, there simply wouldn’t be a May Fair.

First estimates indicate we made over $9000. Great work! These funds will help send numerous classes on field trips, provide ‘heat relief’ in the form of fans in several classrooms, provide programs like Scientists in the School to our students and more. Thanks for coming out to support our school and have a day of fun!

As the school year draws to a close, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the people that have contributed so much to a fantastic year at Manor Park Public School.

Everyone involved with school this year – administrative staff, teachers, support staff, volunteers, students and parents – should be proud of their respective contributions to making Manor Park the great school that it is.

We wish you all a safe, healthy and happy summer vacation, and look forward to seeing everyone again in September!

ABOUT THE SCHOOL COUNCIL

The Manor Park School Council would like to welcome all school families, new and not so new, to Manor Park School for the new 2009-2010 school year. We are all excited to begin this school year with many new students, some new staff, the new Balanced School Day and an abundance of fresh ideas.

To achieve this, your School Council and Home & School Association plan many activities and fundraisers to support student learning. Together, we provide resources for the support of quality sports and arts programming, as well as teacher support through increased volunteerism in our school.

We will do our best to expand and improve on the partnership between teachers/staff, the school community families and our community at large.

At Manor Park, we highly value and benefit from the contributions of our school families. Increased parental involvement equals higher student achievement, attendance, improved behavior, improved school climate and a better relationship between home and school. Parent volunteers contribute to many areas of school life and are a major part of any school’s success.

The Manor Park School Council acts as an advisory committee. Its main objective is to promote the educational interests of the school and the students. The council is made up of parent volunteers and is supported by the school staff and community at large. In cooperation with the Manor Park Home & School Association, the Council helps to provide students with books, audio-visual equipment, field trips, sports equipment and much more. The Home and School Association coordinates all fundraising events and provides financial support for areas identified by the school.

Each school year, the two parent groups are able to achieve their goals with the help of parents like you who give of themselves during the school hours and in the evenings/weekends.

As a parent or guardian of a student of the school, you are welcome and encouraged to attend any and all council meetings. It is your vote that elects the council, who then act on your behalf throughout the school year. You are encouraged to ask questions, share ideas and concerns and to be a part of your child’s school.

Council meetings are held throughout the school year on the second school Wednesday of each month starting at 7pm.

DATES OF COUNCIL MEETINGS:

October 14th

November 7pm
