Library Committee News

We are kicking off the new school year by adding more new books to the library. Over the next couple of months, our students will see more books purchased by funds received from the Ministry of Education and our Home and School Association.

The Scholastic Book Fair will take place on December 2, 3 and 4th. After last year’s successful book fair we were able to add hundreds of new books to the library shelves.

If you are interested in joining the library committee or wish to volunteer in the library, please see our library technician, Petra Alince (Tues-Thurs). Happy Reading!!

May Fair is Coming!

May Fair No Comments »

Saturday, May 23 is Manor Park’s annual May Fair.  This is the Home and School Association’s biggest fundraiser of the year, and is a favourite among kids from the school and around the city.  Come join us for games, refreshments, and much more. The event will be at Manor Park Public School, 100 Braemar St., Ottawa

Want to Volunteer?

Each year, our biggest challenge is finding a sufficient number of volunteers for the event.  We can always use more.  High school students should know that hours spent volunteering at May Fair can go towards fulfilling their volunteer requirements.  Please contact the volunteer office at manorparkschoolcouncil@yahoo.ca

Manor Park Celebrates Music Monday

Uncategorized No Comments »

On May 4, the Manor Park School Choir joined students from around the country in celebrating Music Monday, a country-wide sing-a-long highlighting the importance of music education in Canada.  The Manor Park students were among those who sang on Parliament Hill.   The video (which I can’t seem to embed on the blog for some reason), is available on the Ottawa Citizen website:

Also, the sponsors of the event, the Coalition for Music Education in Canada, have a clip of the CBC feature on Music Monday across Canada:

On a related note, the Manor Park School choir has clearly become a huge hit with students and parents alike.   Teachers Joanna Harvey and Kendra Durnford deserve special praise for putting all this together.
