SURPRISE JARS NEEDED (Thanks to all who have brought these in to the school)

May 26th is Manor Park’s 66th annual May Fair, and that means that while you’re doing your spring cleaning, it’s also a perfect time to start collecting all those little toys your kids have outgrown or no longer use and start filling surprise jars!

A surprise jar is a small, see-through container (for example, the kind used for berries) or a Ziploc bag that you fill with small treasures that are ready for a new home.

What should go into them? Any small figures, games, crafts, bouncy balls, hot wheels, jewelry, hair clips, fancy pens, bubbles, lego, or any nifty thing that kids like, but please, no glass (e.g. ornaments or nail polish), no candy (e.g. chocolate, Halloween candy, etc.), and no sharp objects.

What are they used for? During the May Fair, they will be used as prizes for the surprise jar beanbag toss game. Kids should bring them to their classrooms for the weekly collection leading up to May Fair. There will be a prize basket for the 2 classes that collect the most surprise jars (one primary, one junior).

66th May Fair – May 26th, 2018

We are now looking for items to be donated and this is where your generous hearts comes to our rescue! All donations to the May Fair helps bring much needed resources to our students such as technology items, books, sports equipment, workshops and much more.

Donations are key to the success of May Fair. Please donate gently used toys (no stuffed animals, games, DS games or puzzles), books (good condition, no ex-library books or textbooks), DVD’s and drinks (bottles of water, cans of pop/juice). All these items can be placed in the May Fair donation bin.

Surprise Jars are loved by the kids at May Fair! It is a great tradition at the school where they are asked to collect surprise jars in a friendly competition. In a clear ziplock bag or container (type used for berries), find small games, crafts, bouncy balls, hot wheels, jewelry, hair clips, figures, bubbles or any nifty thing that kids like and donate. Please no glass, candy, or sharp objects.
